Aperture is the pupil of the camera. It's the speed and the size of the hole. The bigger the hole, the more light is captured.
In the first picture, the hole is bigger, therefore, the f-stop would be small.
In the second picture, the hole is smaller, therefore, the f-stop is a big number.
